Review:  Last lesson, we saw that several facts concerning Christ's baptism, death, and the gospel going to the Gentiles were all fulfilled exactly as prophesied.

INTRODUCTION:  This week, we will discover what was involved in the closing dates of the 2300 days, or years, ending in 1844.

JHP - 1      Let’s find out what was to take place.  Daniel 8:14
                  1.     The sanctuary was to be cleansed at the end of the 2300 days.

JHP - 2      Let’s find out what the sanctuary is as spoken of in prophecy.  Hebrews 9:1-5
                  1.     These verses describe the Old Testament sanctuary service which met fulfillment in Christ.
                  2.     This sanctuary had two rooms.
                        a)     The first room contained the candlestick, table, and shewbread.
                        b)    While the alter of incense, with its golden censer, was located in the first room, its function pertained to the second room, housing the ark of the covenant, which contained the golden pot of manna, Aaron's rod, and the tables of the covenant.

JHP - 3      We have seen descriptions of the sanctuary before Christ.  What happened after Christ came?  Hebrews 8:1,2
                  1.     The change from an earthly to a heavenly one is here stated.
                  2.     The true, or heavenly, Tabernacle is not pitched by man, but by the Lord.
                  3.     The High Priest of the heavenly sanctuary is Jesus.

JHP - 4      Does Christ then function in the Christian era as the Levitical priesthood functioned before Christ?  Hebrews 7:27
                  1.     Christ does not need to offer a sacrifice for His sins, for He was sinless.
                  2.     He does not need to daily offer a sacrifice for His people, because He gave Himself once and for all for that purpose.

JHP - 5      Where is Christ now?  Hebrews 10:12
                  1.     Christ who takes away our sins by His death, is at the right hand of God.

JHP - 6      How is it that Jesus, who is in heaven, can be our High Priest for us who are on this earth.  Hebrews 4:14-16
                  1.     Because Jesus is our High Priest in Heaven, we should remain true.
                  2.     Jesus was tempted in all points just like we are, yet He never sinned.
                  3.     If we come to Jesus, we can find mercy and grace to help in time of need.

JHP - 7      For whom did Christ die, and what does He offer to them?  Hebrews 9:28
                  1.     Christ died for our sins so that He could bring salvation to those who look for Him.

JHP - 8      What does Christ do with our confessed sins? Isaiah 43:25
                  1.     Christ blots out our sins.
                  2.     So completely are they blotted out that He will not remember them anymore.

Let us make sure that all of our sins are confessed so that Jesus, who is finishing His priestly work, may be able to blot them out forever.

PREVIEW:   Next lesson, we shall talk about a subject which is often discussed: "Law and Grace".
